General The Greatest Gift of Waking Up

I think the only fear of armageddon I had as a jw, was not making it because I had missed one person to preach to, or worse still my mistakes or those of my family would stumble someone worthy into never becoming a jw.

So I feel that the greatest thing I have been able to embrace is personal responsibility. Yes, I still need to do my best. I'm not a osas girl, but there's freedom in knowing I stand before Jesus' throne for me and only me. I appreciate a Judge who can balance it all out and can commend an unclean woman who broke the law for her faith. My appreciation means I pay it forward. It means I do my part in the Great Commission, but it's a lifestyle and not seventy hours a month.

I agree with you! We don't earn it! it's a free gift!

I know Jesus saved us, but even when I was a jw I saw it more as a person who loved us enough to run into a burning building or push us out of the way on an oncoming car. So many times atheists mock Jesus for doing something that if anyone else did, they'd be hailed a hero. I've been reading and meditating on John 13 a lot lately and it's just profound to think of all that love. And yes, it's never earnable. Rules tear it down. Gratitude builds it up.
