LOST and FOUND

Ready for Battle? (a) belt

You must wear all the armor that God provides so you’re protected as you
confront the slanderer, for you are destined for all things and will rise victorious.

Ephesians 6:13, The Passion Translation

At times, does the will to resist a certain temptation weaken and you suddenly cave into a selfish ‘pleasure’? Then immediately follows a black cloud of guilt and self-doubt which you hope will dissipate, perhaps by the next day. We are supposed to feel ‘clean and close’ to God but at times just feel so ‘dirty and distant’.

Satan’s goal is to keep us from God. He attacks our thoughts with lies, temptations and guilt so that we will come to doubt our salvation. He knows that he can’t take away our salvation, but he will try to steal our joy and destroy our desire to tell others about Jesus. However, if we have “put on the Lord Jesus Christ” (Rom 13:14) as our six-piece armour, and Satan sees us approaching, he will aggressively roar at us but has to jump aside to let “Christ” pass. As we see below, all six parts of the "Armour of God" in Ephesians chapter 6, boils down to CHRIST – putting him on.

1. BELT of Truth. Does this mean that we seek to know and live by true Bible doctrine? Yes, but this belt is no mere acceptance of the Bible truth. Clearly Jesus is identified as the Truth, the reality, who by the Spirit dwells within us and daily lives Himself out through us. “[God] was pleased to reveal His Son in [not ‘through’, NWT] me so that I might preach Him among the Gentiles.” (Gal 1:15-16; 2:20; John 8:32,36) He undergirds our whole life.
