The holy place made with hands was the temple, specifically the holy of holies. The high priest entered this holy place only once a year on the day of atonement. Here the high priest symbolized Jesus, the holy of holies symbolized heaven and the blood the high priest offered of an animal symbolized the blood of Jesus. In all that ancient Israel did was only shadows and symbolism with no substance. The seven annual holy days, of which atonement was one, were all appointed as days of sacrifice. This was the main reason to keep the days. Once Jesus fulfilled all the symbolism of these days the keeping of them ended for those in Christ. However, regardless if the carnal world knows it or not they all are yet under the law of shadows and symbolism because for them Christ has not yet come. A person is either under the law or under grace but cannot be in both. Jesus said that he was not of this world, not of this creation. The law was intended for this creation, this world. The law serves to condemn the carnal world but the saints who are no longer under the law but under grace escape this condemnation. Once the saints escape they cannot again return to any part of law keeping as this would deny that Christ came to them. In short, if you are in the world then keep the law but if you are in Christ you do not. This is what law keeping people do not understand, the message of the gospel. The gospel is a message that we, the saints, stop working in a law that can only kill us, to let GOD work in us by HIS agape. This agape, the love of GOD, is what fulfills the intent of the law. The law could deter sin but never abolish it, GODS love abolishes sin. GODS love cannot sin, it is the fulfillment of the law.
I learned the lessons of the schoolmaster more than 30 years ago as GODS law drew me to HIS son. I had to admit that I could not keep HIS law that is holy, just and good. I was a sinner in need of a savior. I was shown the love, mercy and grace GOD was willing to give me and I chose that grace and abandoned the law. The righteous condemnation of the law demands all who violate only one point of that law be put to death. The wages of sin is death. The law demands the death of all sinners and all have sinned therefore all die. Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice for the sins of all humanity, he paid the laws price, the death of a righteous man, a man who was agape, who was the image of the invisible GOD in these things. If we are called and begin to see how GOD uses HIS law to draw us to HIS son and answer that call then we are chosen. We become an elect saint of GOD. However in all men is not this knowledge because many are called but few are chosen.
