1 John 4:1 Discernment of spirits is one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:4-11 The discernment means to be enabled by Gods spirit in you to determine what the origin of a spirit is. You as a Christian are empowered to do this very thing. Many of you here on this forum used this gift to come out of the church you were in. I used this gift to come out of the Worldwide Church of God. You are to test or try a spirit to see if it is of God or not. John says that in his day many false prophets have gone out into the world, do you think the same is true today ? It is even worse today then it was in Johns day.
John said that every spirit that does not say that Jesus was a human being who God created to be the messiah is antichrist. That antichrist spirit existed in Johns day as the development of the heresy of the trinity was already in the world. The people of the world speak carnally being devoid of the Holy Spirit. They use human reasoning to interpret scripture. This mind set is death. People who are of God are taught by Gods spirit through Jesus the mediator. They are the elect saints and the spirit of God, as Jesus told us, is the teacher, the Elijah to come and restore all things. The saints are in agreement on all spiritual things because all were taught these things by God. God cannot lie but men can and do. You should never put you trust in any man. You should not need any man to teach you. Whoever knows God will listen and hear each other but those devoid of the spirit cannot hear us. Why would John say these things if he did not believe them to be true ? If you have the Holy Spirit you should be able to discern those who do not. This is what the gift of discernment is all about. However we live in a world where everyone who calls themself a Christian thinks they have the Holy Spirit when their belief system is antichrist. God will not lead you into lies but the false churches will. Did not the Jehovahs witnesses, Mormons, legalists, trinitarians and many others have you deceived in the past ? Did you experience in your mind thoughts that were telling you the truth so that you left these organizations ? Don’t you know that this was God speaking to your spirit ? Once you know the truth it is extremely easy to discern who does not. This is not being cruel or brash, misjudgment or lacking Godly love; it is protection and security by a God who loves you so that heresy does not enter your spiritual life. It is God keeping you pure. 2 John 1:10 says do not associate with unbelievers who bring to you their lies, use spiritual discernment to identify them. 1 Corinthians 10:21 , 2 Corinthians 6:15-16 These admonitions are against any type of spiritual interfacing with worldly people, it does not apply in other settings that have nothing to do with spiritual things.
