In this episode of Hebrew Voices, A Physicist on Creation, Evolution, and the Human Soul, Nehemia Gordon continues a conversation with orthodox Jewish physicist Dr. Gerald Schroeder. Because modern Bible commentators tend to bend the Bible to match science, Schroeder studied Nachmanides which led him to see no discrepancy between six days of creation and 14 billion years of evolution. While religious minds grapple with the concept of time compression, Schroeder claims it is elementary stuff to physicists—and all a matter of perspective.

While asserting his belief that life on earth developed from the simple to the complex, Schroeder states his objections to modern evolutionary theory which is based on random mutations—a theory that he considers flawed as well as theological—and therefore one that should be banned from schools. Lastly, Schroeder shares his views on soulless, human-like creatures who lived before God breathed life into “the Adam.”

That was a good listen. I appreciate Dr. Schroders persepectives and how it can explain both perspectives of a young earth vs. billions of years old earth.

I also loved the discussion about "neshama"

Nehemia: Then for “ha Adam”, which you’re saying “the Adam”, then He created for him a neshama. What is neshama, for those who don’t know Hebrew?

Gerald: Neshama will be the soul of humanity. I think the neshama knows what Jesus said was the most important sentence in the world.

Gerald: And that the soul doesn’t die. I have a whole book I’m writing now about…This is based on neurology. Neurologists have discovered the part of the brain that links to our – I’m not getting in too far, that is a link from our physical body to our metaphysical body. These souls are metaphysical. They’re not physical. You realize, there’s only one physical creation, Genesis chapter 1 verse 1. If the Bible says explicitly, “God created the animals and God created the Adam,” that neshama, that soul. That’s what changed.

Now, this is going to require some time to study. Be back later. Thanks

Scripture says man is a soul, the union of flesh and human spirit. Genesis 2:7 Death is when the human spirit leaves the body, the union of the soul is broken, the body returns to dust the human spirit returns to GOD in a totally dormant state. Ecclesiastes 12:7. Psalm 104:29,30 In death the human spirit cannot function in any way because it requires a body. This spirit body is already prepared for the saints, 2 Corinthians 5:1 , at the resurrection the human spirit is united with the spirit body and is immortal. Jesus was the first human being to experience this. The first born of many brethren. Everyone’s human spirit goes back to GOD at death. The human spirit can be destroyed in the lake of fire, the second death. The world “soul” has been incorrectly understood by many people, if souls were immortal you and I would never die, but we do die, the soul that sins will die. Ezekiel 18:4,13,20 Death is the complete opposite of life, Satans lie was, “thou shall not surely die” but GOD said , “in the day you eat of it (the tree of the knowledge of good and evil) you will surely die”. Who do you believe ?

This Doctor is a Orthodox Jew. He quotes things from the Babylonian Talmud and the Maimonides. Even though he mentions Jesus he does not believe that Jesus is the son of GOD and the messiah. Therefore it is impossible for this Doctor to have the Holy Spirit. To understand the scriptures one must have the Holy Spirit. The prophets, Jesus and the Apostles all were inspired by the Spirit of the FATHER. Their words are spiritual not carnal like this Doctor. Everything the Doctor says is Jewish mysticism much of it based on the Babylonian Talmud and the Maimonides that were the writings of carnal men. Look up the Babylonian Talmud and Maimonides, study what they say and compare that with what the Holy Spirit has taught you. I have done this many years ago and it’s all a bunch of bunk, it’s the Babylonian mystery religion of the harlot in Revelation 17:5KJV Mystery Babylon the great. This is what the Doctor is talking about.

It’s the human spirit that will achieve perfection. Hebrews 12:23 It is the spirit that is saved or receives salvation. 1 Corinthians 5:5 This Doctor is confusing the terms of soul and spirit. The soul is a living human being, the spirit is the human spirit that imparts life to the body and contains memory, consciousness, intelligence. The flesh, the body profits nothing. John 6:63
