Deaconness or prophetess are the only offices women can hold in the church.

Like the qualification of the elder/overseer, the deacon must be the "husband of one wife" (1Tim 3.12).

NOTE: the word deacon can also refer to a "servant" or "minister," as many translate the Greek for Phoebe in Rom 16.1; Epaphras in Col 1:7; Timothy in 1 Tim 4:6, etc.

Gender roles were assigned by God after Adam sinned. Adam, Eve and the serpent were all punished for what each had done. Men still work, women still give birth and serpents still crawl. Adam ruled over Eve and as Paul said concerning husband's and wives. Since the beginning things have not been changed by God. Society made changes that violate the God established roles of the genders and has paid a price for it. The word servant can be used to describe many ways to serve. Serving in the ministry was reserved for men only with the exception of prophetess. If the Lord speaks who can but prophesize. Amos 3:8 An old testament example is Huldah, Sarah, Miriam, Deborah, Hannah, Abigail, and Esther. Huldah had a school for mothers and daughters who she taught the word of God. 2 Chronicles 34:22
