Yes, I have been through this study from other scholars a long time ago. There are other sources of evidence and theories as well, and they all add up for me that the information given in the Pentateuch is important for our understanding of the characteristics of Yahweh. While there are those who will tear the house down trying to swat a fly, the first five books provide the foundation that helps us to examine "the rest of the story." If one were to discount them, much would be lacking in our understanding.

I just imagine the finger of God causing us to have a foundational record.
