The elect are the called and chosen saints, the Israel of God, the first fruits, the little flock and the sealed. No one can have the hope of salvation unless God draws them. John 6:44 , Romans 8:28-30 , Acts 2:47 Put simply no one joins the church or chooses Christ or the Father. God must make first contact. According to scripture the number of those in this age that will be saved is few. Luke 13:23-30 , Matthew 7:14 , Matthew 20:16 , 2 Corinthians 2:15 , Matthew 7:21-23 Those God calls are the elect, the church; Colossians 3:12 , Titus 1:1 , 1 Peter 1:2 , 2 John 1:1 , 2 John 1:13 , 2 Peter 2:10 , Romans 11:4-5 , Romans 9:11 All of the elect will be in the first resurrection which includes the elect before and after Christ. Hebrews 11:10 During the tribulation there will be two churches existing, both are the church of God but while the Philadelphia church remained faithful the Laodiceans did not. The Philadelphia church are the elect but the Laodiceans are the martyrs of the tribulation. Both of these will be in the first resurrection. So then the Saints , although separated by times and circumstances, are all one church composed of the elect before Christ, during and after Christ and the tribulation saints who are martyred. Revelation 20:4 (beheaded Laodiceans) , Revelation 7:1-8 (The elect) Revelation 7:9-17 (The martyred Laodiceans).

Those not killed in the tribulation live into the millennium. Those killed rise in the second resurrection.

The Philadelphia church will be protected during the tribulation, Revelation 3:10 but the Laodiceans must be tried in the fire, Revelation 3:18 . Both of these churches are the church of God but while one remained faithful the other did not. The Philadelphians , Revelation 3:7-9 , but the Laodiceans, Revelation 3:15-19 . Because of these things the Philadelphia church are the elect and the Laodiceans are not. The Philadelphia church goes back to righteous Able , Matthew 23:25 , Hebrews 11:4 . Indeed Hebrews 11 , the faith chapter, gives a partial list of Gods elect before Christ. These people were Christians , the root of the olive tree into which the gentiles are grafted. From this righteous Able forward until the doors are shut will be the entirety of the elect. Luke 13:25 , Matthew 25:10 . This door does not close the opportunity of salvation for others but only the opportunity to be one of the elect. The kingdom of God is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal until the whole was leavened. Matthew 13:33. The three measures of meal are first the elect and innumerable multitude then second the millennium and finally the second resurrection. As time moves forward the numbers having salvation increase. In this age it will be few, in the millennium many more and in the second resurrection all that have ever lived that did not know the truth. This is why God is not willing that any should perish but all come to repentance. Gods love and mercy will spread across time and into when time is no more.
