From speaking to some of them who came knocking on my door these Jehovahs Witnesses believe they are witnesses for Jehovah and Jesus. They truly believe they have the truth of the Gospel and desire to enlighten the ignorant by teaching them their truth.
As far as the true witnesses of God and Christ, they are all dead, all of them. Acts 1:8. Acts 1:21-26. A person in order to be a witness must have lived with Jesus, heard his preaching, saw his crucifixion, saw him after his resurrection and saw him ascend. No one alive today or for many yesterdays can make that claim. 1 John 1:1-4
John, one of the true witnesses, declares to us what he experienced first hand. No one today can do that. Peter, an Apostle, confirmed that only the 12 were the true witnesses who were chosen before by God. Acts 10:40-42. Only these 12 were the witnesses. Paul said in, Acts 13:29-31 , also confirms the 12 were the witnesses. A true witness must be able to testify to events they have seen and heard. No one can do this today. And for those who today have the nerve and the foolishness to claim that they also are witnesses are obvious liars. Jesus, in John 17:20 , through their word, the word of the eye witnesses, is how you are to believe and not someone who knocks on your door 2,000 years later. Of these 12 men we have writings that preach to us today the truth. I do not think that any of the Jehovahs Witnesses have ever written scripture. The very plain and simple truth is that if you were not there you cannot be a witness. The same is true of any church in this world because they are all just as guilty as the Jehovahs Witnesses, all of them. You may say, what do we do about this. You go to God in sincere and humble prayer and ask for His mercy and that by His Spirit He will teach you. Eliminate the middle man. Come out from among them and be you separate, touch not these unclean churches and I will receive you says the Lord. Isaiah 54:13. As I have said before, if your leader is a man you are deceived. I learned these things 30 years ago, Gods Spirit is my teacher.

Just because no one occupies the spot (of trustworthy men) that we should stop looking or waiting. If I remember correctly, 16 But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel: ac2v17 17 [†] v “‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares, w that I will pour out my Spirit x on all flesh, and your sons and y your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; ac2v18 18 even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and z they shall prophesy. ac2v19 19 [†] And I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke; ac2v20 20 a the sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before b the day of the Lord comes, the great and magnificent day.

There is also Isaiah 1, which seems to refer to the days after the Parousia, 26 And I will restore your judges b as at the first, and your counselors as at the beginning. Afterward c you shall be called the city of righteousness, the faithful city.”

Never said to stop looking or waiting just not to look or wait on false ministers. Verse 18 is, on His servants only, the all flesh means on Jew or Gentile the members of the church. Verses 19. &. 20. refer to the return of Christ. Amos 5:20. Joel 2:2. Acts 2:20 Isaiah 13:10. Matthew 24:29. Isaiah 1:26. Happens in the millennium.
