Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me as though I were Your only child. And yet I am not — I am part of Your much larger family. Help me to love others as You love them. Open my eyes and heart to see the needs around me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

I love the prayers at the bottom. I decided to start saving them on a pdf since they are so good. I noticed them at the end of each proverbs31 post. The man who needed the shoes had prayed for them and the writers husband became the answer to that prayer. Which one of them do you like to be? The one who prayed (in secret to your heavenly Father) for something you need or the one whose actions answer that prayer in every detail? What do we learn from being both?

I have been the one who prayed. When that person's loving actions answer it, I am always overwhelmed with emotions for my Heavenly Father and feel closer to Him. It strengthens my faith and touches my heart.

I have also been the one who answered the prayer. I again feel overwhelmed with emotions of gratitude and intense humility because it is in that moment that I realize I'm not as smart or as loving as I thought I was. When I'm weak (prayerfully humble) then the holy spirit can direct me to do "powerful works" of love for my fellow man and in that moment I cannot even think of taking credit for it. Because I know it was not from me or my ideas. It is wonderful! Then I'm overwhelmed with the amazing privilege to be able to help someone.

How did this man help the man without the shoes? I can name 2 ways- 1- He is not alone. Other people do care about him and are kind loving people. 2- Most importantly- our Heavenly Father is very close to each one of us and is listening just as Jesus assured us.

And people say there are no miracles!

I liked this thought: "Our God will drop everything. He will leave the 99. He will even tug at the hearts of His children to care for the needs of the one." It helps me remember that God cares for us as individuals and helps us care for each other.
