In Mark 12:29 Jesus said the first and greatest of all the commandments is "the Lord our God is one Lord."
But who knew that words like "one" would actually turn out to be a minefield of debate and confusion?!
The Messianic Trinitarian apologist Michael Brown, in his book "The Real Kosher Jesus" argues:
The Trinitarian trick is exposed when you see that the meaning of the word "one" has actually not changed. In other words, scripture is still talking about "one" day not two days.
The same is true of another favorite Trini "proof text" Gen 2.24, where Adam and Eve become "one flesh" and not two fleshes, etc. The idea of plurality comes from words like "flesh" and not from the word “one.”
Again, the word “one,” in any language, never changes to a plural meaning!
So we must not transfer the plurality in the collective noun to the word “one” or, even worse, to the word LORD in the phrase “one LORD" of Mark 12:29!
For Christian scholars, linguists, apologists and pastors to do this is misleading to say the least and at worst a striking falsehood!

“It is important to understand that the word echad does not point to absolute unity. It simply means one as in one day consisting of night and day."
