Just yesterday, while doing chores, it occurred to me that we typically don't consider the difference between believing and knowing. I realized for myself that there is a gap between the two.

I think that our issue is that we, and scripture, speaks of our need to believe. Mentally, I suspect that is the condition where we stop. I know that is where I stopped.... until God made me "know."

I believed the Trinity was false until God taught me to know. I believed that water baptism was an act that had an effect on us. Then God gave me to know it.

I will be more careful with those verbs in the future, because I "know" they are different.

This was your “Job” experience. You heard by the hearing of the ear but now your eyes “see” HIM. Job is a story about a law keeper becoming a Christian. It has nothing to do with patience, Job had none anyway as he blamed GOD for punishing him without a reason. Job had what the law produces in most people, self righteousness.

Those who are full of church doctrines and tradition "believe" what they have been taught. Sadly, they tend not to go any further.

I call this plateauism. Each false church has its own plateau and of various heights. Some have more truth than others do but all of them have lies in thei doctrine as well. Reaching a plateau is the end of growth and then the church is dead, like Sardis, Revelation 3:1 This is where all the false churches are today. Dead things cannot grow.

Yeah, "this far and no farther" is the definition of a dead end. Complacency driven by the idea that we have achieved salvation can stop our search for more.
