I came upon this 2015 online blog called Orthodox Christian Parenting.
It opens with an Author’s note that reads in part:
As we approach Mother’s Day, I was thinking about this blog and wondering what we could post that would be helpful to the mothers (and, for that matter, to all women who care for children)....
Again and again, I thought of the Theotokos and her example to us.
The article goes on to talk about the "Ways in which we can aspire to be like the Theotokos."
As most of you probably know, Theotokos is a Greek word used as an honorific title for Mary that literally means one who bears "God-child."
Or, as it's more popularly known, "mother of God."
So I asked myself how and why is it that a billion plus loving, well-intentioned and self-professed Christians would celebrate Mary this way?
