Jesus taught that thinking of sinning is sin. The law did not address the thoughts and intents of the heart (mind or human spirit) only the outward actions or words . The Pharisee outwardly appeared righteous but inwardly was not. This is why righteousness did not come by the law. Two or more human witnesses were required to testify against a person about what they saw and or heard to condemn to death the sinner. However, no human can know the thoughts of another and as long as the sinner did not act out his thoughts he would appear righteous but his thoughts (lust) yet condemned him. Paul said that he knew what sin is by the tenth commandment Romans 7:7 What we humans need is a change of the way we think for as a man thinks so is he. Peter said we must partake of the divine nature, John said God is love, Paul said love fulfills the law and Jesus said love God and neighbor. James 1:13-15 describes the sin process, how sin works in us. Notice that no words or actions are mentioned in these verses only temptation, desire and enticement. These are the thoughts and intents of the mind or human spirit . Genesis 6:5 , Hebrews 4:12 , Proverbs 16:2 . Jesus magnified the law to address this issue Isaiah 42:21 which is why Jesus said , John 15:22 . The law was designed by Yahweh so that it would be possible for it to lead a person to Christ like a schoolmaster. Once in Christ the person is no longer under the law and has passed over into the new covenant. The faith given to us we respect and respond to and just as with Abraham it is counted as righteousness. This is not our righteousness but Yahwehs righteousness. Philippians 3:9 Paul had no righteousness at all of his own by law keeping because we know Isaiah 64:6 . Yahweh gives the one of faith a portion of His Holy Spirit that sheds abroad in our human spirit the love of Yahweh. Romans 5:5
This love, agape in Greek, is the highest kind of love, Yahwehs perfect love, that helps us to begin to develop as a Christian. Without this agape we can do nothing and would remain sinners because Yahwehs love is the fulfillment of the law. Yahwehs love empowers us to control our thoughts and intents so as not to lust which I have shown is the true sin. Whatever is not of Gods love is sin.

Another thing. If Jesus fulfilled the law he did so with agape, Yahwehs love. Peter said that prophecy is a sure word that we would do well to heed. Character, nature , things like righteousness, holiness and agape are how and why Jesus was like his God. Nowhere in scripture does it ever say there was a chance Jesus would sin and fail in his mission. You and I must also be like Christ. We should not not bring Jesus down to our level when scripture says we must rise to his level. Biologically Jesus was just like us but spiritually he was far superior. Peter spoke of us taking on the divine nature but Jesus was born with it, conceived by it. This does not make Jesus God but it made Jesus the very first new man and we must become as he was. Yahweh created His son after His own Character of love, righteousness and holiness and our faith in this gives us the hope of being recreated in the image of Jesus who was the image of his God. This explains why Jesus would say, if you have seen me you have seen the Father and I and my Father are one. Yahwehs love cannot sin, the true understanding of what righteousness is , is impeccability. The hope of humanity is to be truly made in the image of Yahweh. How would this be possible ? Adam brought sin into the world, the second Adam had to bring life. Only the death of a righteous man would serve as the sacrifice. However there was none righteous, no not one. No problem for Yahweh, He would create one, His son. Jesus was the only being, angelic or human to be created righteous, incapable of sin, by having the divine nature of his creator. Jesus had to be this way if he is our hope of becoming that way. This shows us why the sacrifice of Jesus, the giving of his life, was acceptable payment in Gods eyes for the sins of the world. There are those who say that Jesus was just like us in every way; I say they never knew him. Rather than give Jesus the same honor as his God they assassinate the character of both. In their obsession to prove Jesus is not God they have denied he is the messiah. The enemy has slipped in the back door to plant a lie they preach.
