The law, specifically the 10 commandments, defines good from evil, for by the law is the knowledge of sin. Romans 3:20. The law is the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that can only produce death. Romans 7:10. Eve thought she could be like God, be wise and know good from evil. Eve was deceived and so are all others who think as she did. When God did give the law to Israel it would give humanity the opportunity to see Eves error. The law condemns the entire world, Jew and gentile, to death because of sin. Romans 3:19.

This shows plainly that the law was not only for Israel.

The 10 commandments are spiritual but the works of the law of Moses were carnal. The 10 commandments are good if used properly. 1 Timothy 1:8. Many use this law the wrong way, to become righteous by it as Paul explains. Philippians 3:9. Galatians 2:21. As a school master the law was to show us our sins and our inability to keep the law. Once we see this we will realize we need a savior. The law is holy, just and good. We Christians should love the law for leading us to Christ but once with Christ the law has done it’s job and no longer has any hold on us. By the Holy Spirit the saints have a portion of Gods love in them and this love fulfills the law. Romans 13:8-10. I was once involved with the Worldwide Church of God a church very involved in the law but I learned the lesson of the school master while many others did not. The law is a way that seems right to a man but the end of it is death. Proverbs 14:12. The law can be a very powerful form of deception and will be used by the man of sin in the last days to deceive many people. Psalm 94:20-23.
