Under the old covenant if you sinned and two witnesses testified against you then you died. You could not ask for mercy or forgiveness. The daily were the evening and morning, the weekly on the Sabbath, the monthly on the new moons and the annual on the 7 annual holy days. These were the sacrifices made year after year that Hebrews 10:1 mentions.
