If you are tempted it only becomes sin if you respond to the temptation by having evil thoughts about doing what you were tempted with. This then becomes lust or coveting which violates the tenth commandment. Sin is not the actual act or spoken word but is the thought that leads to acts and words. It is cause and effect, the thought is the cause, the acts or words are the effect. In JAMES 1:12-15 people have been successfully tempted when they are drawn away by their own desires and enticed or attracted and aroused by the thought , at this point sin is born and results in death. Take note that no act or word is mentioned here only that which occurs in the mind. It is possible to be tempted but not sin when in your mind you do not respond in a way that is lust.
The temptation of Jesus was Satan attempting to get Jesus to sin in his mind but Jesus did not sin. This is because the mind of Jesus in the matter of sin was exactly like his God and Father, verse 13 says , God cannot be tempted with evil, Jesus was the same. Temptation is only sin if you desire in your mind to respond, to lust, as Jesus clearly proves. Matthew 5:28 Matthew 15:18-20. Sin is a defiled human spirit that Jesus called the heart. Jesus had a heart, a human spirit , a mind that never thought of sinning. This helps us better understand Philippians 2:5-6 and Romans 12:2. God does not lust, think evil, and Jesus did not either; we are to become like God and Jesus. When we are after their image and according to their likeness we will be in the kingdom. Jesus did not brag or flaunt his likeness to his God but made himself of no reputation even though his mind was exactly like his Fathers. This is why I say the man Jesus had a kingdom mind and was impeccable or unable to sin. Jesus was the first born of a new creation of humanity, he was born that way, we were not. We must be recreated in Jesus the second Adam in a second Genesis within the second Eve the church, the bride of Christ. If we must be changed to be like Jesus then Jesus was not like us. Physically Jesus was like us but spirituality he was far above us.
