Ecclesiastes 7

Wisdom And Folly Contrasted

1 A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one's birth.

2 It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart.

3 Sorrow is better than laughter: for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better.

4 The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.

5 It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools.

6 For as the crackling of thorns under a pot, so is the laughter of the fool: this also is vanity.

7 Surely oppression maketh a wise man mad; and a gift destroyeth the heart.

8 Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.

9 Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.

10 Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this.

11 Wisdom is good with an inheritance: and by it there is profit to them that see the sun.

12 For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.

13 Consider the work of God: for who can make that straight, which he hath made crooked?

14 In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: God also hath set the one over against the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him.

Wisdom Of Moderation

15 All things have I seen in the days of my vanity: there is a just man that perisheth in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man that prolongeth his life in his wickedness.

16 Be not righteous over much; neither make thyself over wise: why shouldest thou destroy thyself ?

17 Be not over much wicked, neither be thou foolish: why shouldest thou die before thy time?

18 It is good that thou shouldest take hold of this; yea, also from this withdraw not thine hand: for he that feareth God shall come forth of them all.

Strength Off Wisdom

19 Wisdom strengtheneth the wise more than ten mighty men which are in the city.

20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.

21 Also take no heed unto all words that are spoken; lest thou hear thy servant curse thee:

22 For oftentimes also thine own heart knoweth that thou thyself likewise hast cursed others.

23 All this have I proved by wisdom: I said, I will be wise; but it was far from me.

24 That which is far off, and exceeding deep, who can find it out?

25 I applied mine heart to know, and to search, and to seek out wisdom, and the reason of things, and to know the wickedness of folly, even of foolishness and madness:

26 And I find more bitter than death the woman, whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands as bands: whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be taken by her.

27 Behold, this have I found, saith the preacher, counting one by one, to find out the account:

28 Which yet my soul seeketh, but I find not: one man among a thousand have I found; but a woman among all those have I not found.

29 Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.

Romans 3

1 What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision?

2 Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.

3 For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?

4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

5 But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man)

6 God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world?

7 For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner?

8 And not rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just.

9 What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;

10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:

14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:

15 Their feet are swift to shed blood:

16 Destruction and misery are in their ways:

17 And the way of peace have they not known:

18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.

19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

29 Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:

30 Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.

31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

The oracles of GOD were the shadow of the law. Examine what the law did, it condemns all flesh to death because of sin. There was no repentance under the law, no forgiveness, no justification, no righteousness, no love of GOD, no faith. There was no drawing near to GOD under the law but only under the new covenant. If the covenant of the law could produce salvation the Jesus died for nothing. The works of the law are all recorded in the book of the law of Moses which the Jerusalem council ruled did not apply to Christians. Yes, the unconverted world is under the law unless GOD draws a person to HIMSELF through Christ. Keeping days, months, seasons and years is carnal, the works of the law that were symbolic shadows of what Christ would fulfill and to yet continue in keeping them is a denial of everything Christ did. GOD through Christ did what the law could NEVER do. Attempts to keep the works of the law while claiming to be a Christian is an attempt to combine the old covenant with the new and as Jeremiah said, Jeremiah 31:32 the new covenant is the new and living way, Hebrews 10:20 the old covenant is the way of death. The letter kills people, life and death can’t be mixed together, it one or the other, Romans 11:6 The righteousness of GOD is imputed to the one of faith that the law did not have. Galatians 4:12 Romans 4:4,5 The law deceived people into thinking they are righteous by doing its works but this is self righteousness as Paul explained, Philippians 3:9. , so if you are keeping the works of the law by the observance of the Sabbath, holy days, unclean foods , then claim to be a Christian you are deceived.
There are two covenants; one produces death and the other everlasting life and were symbolized by the two trees in the garden of Eden, one produces death and the other immortality. Law keepers commit the same sin as Adam did, choosing death.

Yes, brother, but this lesson is very difficult to learn for those who have sat in front of someone claiming to know the truth yet preaches adherence to "the law." Most of us were taught this by parents and grandparents as well. One must be open to truth - able to humble himself - and let the scriptures speak while listening to God's teaching. It doesn't come easy. In learning this, we feel like we are not honoring our parents (accusing them of deceiving us) - because we are busy adhering to the law.

This issue is something that only God can solve.

Law keepers cannot understand how sin can be avoided without keeping the law. I once tried to explain this to my sister who is still a law keeper and her reply to me was, “what is all this love sh t about”, you can put in the vowel “i”. After this I made for the exit realizing her blindness. When comparing all the blessings that only the new covenant gives to the old covenant that had none of them it is amazing how anyone would choose to remain in parts of the old and add some parts of the new. Law keepers are confusion. They know Christ did not do away with one jot or tittle of the law but yet themselves pick and chose from the law what they want to keep and throw away the rest. In doing this they are the ones who butcher the law. There are 613 commandments in the law and to break one is to break them all. Law keepers are twice dead; once in Adam and again in the law.
