The following are some examples of how the shadow of the law is fulfilled by the light.
Leaven: Leaven symbolizes spirit, either holy or evil. If a person has the Holy Spirit they are leavened with GODS spirit. If a person is unconverted they are a child of the devil, leavened with the spirit of malice and wickedness.
Clean and Unclean: Being Clean is to have the Holy Spirit. To be unclean is not having the Holy Spirit.
The Law: There are 613 commandments in the Law. Ten are the statutes or Ten Commandments and the other 603 are written in the book of the law of Moses that contains the judgments, the sacrifices with all of the service or works of the law. Only the Ten Commandments are spiritual but only a shadow of agape. The Ten Commandments were a deterrent to sin and provided no mercy or forgiveness. You can’t repent under the law. Violation of the law was death. The law is holy, just and good because GOD ordained that sinners must die. The wages of sin is death. This death is what Christ saves us from. We are saved from the death sentence of the law by the sacrifice of Christ.
The Passover: The lamb killed on the Passover symbolizes Jesus. Just as the blood on the door posts protected Israel from the death angel the blood of Christ protects us from death brought on us by the law. Jesus fulfilled this day on the day of his death, the Passover.
Sabbath: Under the law the Sabbath was a physical rest, no work could be done on the Sabbath. Jesus was the Lord of the Sabbath as he brought out the true spiritual meaning of the Sabbath. It is a spiritual rest from trying to keep a law that only kills you. The rest or sabbath of Christ is when we come out from under the law and become GODS workmanship, GOD works in us while we Sabbath, we stop working . All of our works and righteousness under the law were filthy rags in GODS eyes. GOD imputes righteousness to the one of faith but the law had no faith, no righteousness . GOD began a good work in us and is able to complete it in the first resurrection.
The schoolmaster of the law: The law was shadows, the light was Christ. The law gave shadow knowledge that needed the light of Christ to find the true spiritual meaning, hence the law was a schoolmaster . To know the shadows is an advantage because it makes it easier to see the truth when the light of Christ shines. An example is knowing what dayJesus was crucified and what day he was raised from the dead. If you have understanding of the law and applied it to the events concerning the death and resurrection of Jesus then you would know the answer. The Jews in that day practiced the law meticulously observing all the commandments of the book of Moses. Each event was fulfilled by Christ on the exact holy day as was in the law. the Passover, unleavened bread, the Sabbath, Pentecost, Trumpets, Atonement, Tabernacles we’re all fulfilled by the death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus.
A Soul or Nephesh: Every human being is a spirit in a fleshly body. The union of the body and spirit is a soul. At death the spirit departs and returns to GOD. This is the real you, your human spirit. The body is only a temporary vessel of dust or clay that contains the treasure of the spirit. The human spirit is what GOD is interested in and is how we are in HIS image and likeness. Our spirits became defiled with Adams sin and Satan became our god. Christ was given to us to destroy the works of Satan and be the savior of humanity. In the resurrection we receive a new body composed entirely of spirit and our human spirit is put in this body, this produces immortality. At the same time we are sealed in righteousness and agape, living forever incapable of sin.
This is only a few examples of how the shadows in the law give knowledge when combined with the light of Jesus.
