Indeed a "ghastly thought". God cannot die. Jesus is not God. God worked in and through Jesus fully via his holy spirit. It really is not difficult. We don't need to spin a tale to make it more complex. Jesus taught us plainly.
Jesus is not a "God-man"
Jesus is not an "Angel-man"
Jesus is a man-man. Just like Adam was. Created via holy spirit.
Born flesh and blood like us.
The first of a "new creation" since his ressurection with an immortal body capable of dwelling in heaven at the right hand side of God.
Waiting to return at the appointed time.
