1 Corinthians 5:11 , 1 Corinthians 5:5 , Matthew 18:15-17 , 2 John 1:10 , 2 Thessalonians 3:6 , Romans 16:17 , 2 Thessalonians 3:14 , Hebrews 12:11 , 2 Corinthians 2:5-8
Jesus and the Apostles taught shunning. Just because a false church uses shunning is no reason to abandon the practice. The true church practiced shunning for the purpose of maintaining pure doctrine as well as punishing brethren who were going astray. When you think of shunning in this way it is an act of tough love. Shunning was part of a corrective process approved by Jesus and the Apostles. How can the church have truth and order without the means to punish those who transgress ? Shunning was to convict the offender so as to lead to repentance and restoration to the body, the church. Is it proper to stand by and watch a brother or sister commit sin and not repent, to watch them risk their salvation and do nothing ? Where would the love be in that ? Even the Father says, as many as I love I rebuke and chasten.

Watchtower uses their shunning as a cruel weapon against persons and children, but indeed it was meant to correct (actual transgressors) and to restore.

I experienced the same thing in the Worldwide Church of God. If it was God's true church I could understand it, but where is that church ?

Many other churches call the true church the invisible church because they are scattered and unorganized.
