Pile of Dung

Tuesday, June 14, 2022

The enemy is called Baal-zebub or Baal-sebul. In Hebrew, Baal means "lord" or "master" and "baal-zebul" bluntly means dung; lord of the dung heap. Satan means "master of the pile of waste." What's more derogatory than that? The Hebrews spoke with contempt when it came to the gods, the devil, sin, or evil. We need to do the same. We are to love others, but hate the sin. The more we hate sin, the less we'll be ensnared by it. The enemy is the lord of the dung heap, and all his ways are as dung. They might look good at first, but they end up being a dung heap. When you indulge in sin, you end up in a pile of dung. So don't respect sin or the enemy. See that temptation for what it really is, not a pleasure, not a thrill, not a joy, but something filthy, base, disgusting and defiling. Hate sin, adultery, lust, selfishness, pride. Have nothing to do with it. When you see the enemy's temptations as they really are, you will spurn him and turn them down. You will avoid that sin like a pile of dung.

From Message #937 - The God of a Thousand Faces
Scripture: Hebrews 11:24-25

TODAY'S MISSION - You will be tempted today; see it for what it really is, as a trap to separate you from God. Don't even go near it but avoid sin just like that stinking pile of dung.

Philippians 3:8 KJV USES THE WORD DUNG. This is only one reason why I prefer the king James to other translations. Words carry power/weight and other translations Rob the scriptures of this. Also trying to connect doctrines and prophecies together throughout the scriptures is difficult if not impossible when different words are used by various translations. There is no common thread and many truths, many understandings are lost. King James is Shakespearean English, a most beautiful , powerful and eloquent speech. If help is needed to explain some of the words the Strongs Concordance is there for you. 2 Peter 2:18 is only one of thousands of examples of what I am saying. “Empty words, words of vanity, high sounding empty words “ , just can’t compare or compete with, “ great swelling words of emptiness “.

Sin is something that easily ensnares us. Hebrews 12:1 Sin is something we have until we are changed. Sin is a constant companion to all Christians but where it abounds grace abounds much more. This sinful situation cannot and should not be denied, 1 John 1:8 We all deserve everlasting death for our sins but GOD provided a way of escape from death to life in Christ. As we mature as Christians we should come to see just how weak and base, how undeserving we truly are of the love and blessings of our GOD and HIS son. GODLY sorrow over our sins leads us to sincerely repent of them and by faith in the message of the gospel go to GOD through Christ and ask forgiveness.
Paul considered himself chief of sinners and he was an Apostle, we are no different than Paul. We should never think more of ourselves than what we are, take heed how we stand lest we fall. None of us are spiritual giants, we are spiritual dwarfs, Jesus was the giant. We lose almost ever battle against sin but yet Christ is the one who gained the victory. King David, Solomon and others in their lives had their share of sin but they knew what we know never having lived to see it happen.

Thank you LeeB. Lately, I've been so busy my visits here have been drive-bys on my way out the door. I didn't realize that retirement could be so busy!

I read that Holt had tornadoes spawned by hurricane Debbie. Here in central PA we have been getting violent thunderstorms with flooding , high winds and hail. The road by my house has been littered with all kinds of debris. I had to clean it up 4 times with my tractor after each storm.

Same here. My brother who lives behind me does not have a tractor, so when he has a tree fall, I get to go pick it up to move it near his burn pit. Between jobs like that and maintenance of all my equipment and facilities, I don't know how I used to manage to work full time.

Yes, we are both supposed to be retired but keeping busy in some ways is a good thing.
