As much as it depends on you as a Christian saint, live peaceably with all men. Romans 12:18 , some translations say , “ if possible “ , this suggests that there may be events that occur beyond your responsibility as a Christian to to control. Saints are to overcome evil with good but in this world does that work all the time ? Agape is the highest level of love , it is the love of God. This love is the new covenant commandments, love God , love neighbor. Jesus said, Matthew 5:11 , this verse says nothing about people who want to murder you or those you love or even a stranger. James said, James 4:17 , it seems that the question here is what is good and what is evil. Agape is the answer to this question. If you have Agape, you must always do good, you must love God and your neighbor, you would obey the golden rule, Matthew 7:12 , in EVERYTHING. As a Agape Christian then would you stand idly by and watch anyone being attacked, harmed or murdered and do nothing ? Christians do not live by the sword, that is the sword is not their way of life. Could 1 John 3:17 , be extended to include the protection of the very life of a brother or sister ? The saints are being judged now by the thoughts and intents of our human spirit; God knows your motive for whatever you do. If Agape is your motive for defending yourself or others from evil men who you cannot overcome by good and have surpassed your capacity to live at peace with them, God will know this and so will you. You , as an Agape Christian, have no pleasure or desire to harm or even possibly kill, who does not live by the sword, who truly agape God and neighbor must act, must do. Agape is not just hearing but doing, agape is a verb requiring action and there may be times when that action involves things that even you desired you would never have to do. God knows you better than you know yourself and if you are ever placed into a situation where you must act to counter an evil force, men or demons, God will be with you. Would it be possible to agape the evil one you may have to kill ? Yes, it is. God Himself takes no pleasure in the deaths of the wicked, why would His people. Ezekiel 33:11 . Deuteronomy 6:5. , Matthew 22:37 , Leviticus 19:34 , Matthew 22:39 . As you can see the new covenant idea of Agape was also taught by Moses. Jesus magnified the law to include the thoughts and intents of our human spirits thus adding a new dimension to what sin truly is. If your true motivation for whatever you do is AGAPE then you cannot have sinned.
