Hello,

Not sure where to put this. I have found it so interesting to 'talk' with the local Rabbi. I am blown away by all the assumptions I have made. I am a Christian. I am not converting or trying to convert anyone to Judaism. I love speaking to everyone one. Here are a few questions I have asked him and his response. I have just found my talks with him to be so eye opening to how dumb I am. Hope you all enjoy as well.

In the list of Judges: Othniel, Ehud, Shamgar, Barak, Gideon, Tola, Jair, Jephthah, Ibzan, Elon, Abdon, and Samson. Is that the list Judaism recognizes? Some say Deborah was a judge and not Barak, what is your take on that?
Jewish tradition holds that Debroah was the Judge. NOT Barak. Full stop. I'd honestly never heard that people considered Barak to be the Judge. Debroah is described as a prophetess (Nevi'ah in Hebrew) who judged (shoftah, the feminine form of the verb "to judge") Israel in Judges 4:4-5. There's no ambiguity in the Hebrew text, nor any indication that it was Barak.

I believe the Jewish people are still waiting for the Messiah, correct?
Yes we are still waiting. Jewish traditions regarding the messiah are explicit that such an individual will be completely mortal, not work miracles, and will meet several criteria (from the Davidic line, a political and military leader, not perform divine miracles, usher in peace throughout the world and a return of the Jewish people to the land of Israel.) When they die, they will be dead.

The Temple was destroyed more than once, how many times and when (what year) did those occur? The Jehovah's Witnesses teach Babylon destroyed the temple in 607 BC.
There were two temples, both are said to have been destroyed on Tisha B'av (literally, the 9th day of the month of Av). The first in 586 BCE (Before Common Era, which corresponds to BC), and the second in 70 CE (Common Era, corresponds to AD).

My local Rabbi, (well, the Rabbi down the street from where we attend Church services), is a homosexual. I haven't asked him any questions.

Interesting! I will have to ask "mine" about that. I know in the past he has told me there are 3 types of Judaism. Orthodox- anti-gay, and Middle - Legalistic and Reform- non-legalistic, I don't remember what he said was the difference was between Legalistic and Non-Legalistic.

The Jewish idea of the messiah is very different than the Christian idea. Google, the six sixty six of Chukas. According to John anyone who does not believe that Jesus is the messiah is antichrist. 1 John 2:22. Is John anti—semitic ? Is his comment extreme, negative or improper ? Don’t go to a Jew for knowledge or understanding, go to God. James 1:5. At this time the Jews are enemies of the gospel. 1 Thessalonians 2:14-16. Was Paul out of line by saying this ? Trust no man, not even me. Trust God.

Don't go to the gay Rabbi down the street for knowledge or understanding, go to God.

Got it.

As far as not trusting any man, well, there has to be sometimes that you can trust others. You just have verify if what they are saying is true or not.

I agree, but when you find that anyone is not truthful what should you do? By anyone I mean even those held in high esteem. Should we let things slide because this? Should we challenge? I did in the WCG others here did with the JW's. Saints must not compromise with the truth.

Challenging is good. 👍
