Matthew 24:5 , is not properly translated. If you came in another person’s name would you claim to be that person ? Jesus came in his Fathers name, was Jesus the Father ? Here is the proper and correct translation. For many will come in my name saying I am the Christ and will deceive many. Organized false Christianity comes in the name of Jesus but at the same time deceives many. I know of no false church that denies Jesus is the Christ, but they identify Jesus as Yahweh and they have destroyed the message of his gospel. This translation is incorrect because of the placing of commas that make this verse seem to say that many would actually claim to be Christ. I am aware that a few have done this but even the false churches know these types are wackos. Commas were not used in early translations, they came much later, and by that time the commas were inserted where they did not belong.

There are some other versions of this same verse. It took me a minute to see this verse being taken as coming in the Father's name instead of Yeshua's. The Hebrew "principle of agency" (https://biblicalagency.com/) as illustrated in other scripture passages does confuse us, because it is not readily apparent to our minds. Many examples of that have ended with theologians claiming that events in the Old Testament were "Christophanies" or "Theophanies" because the messengers using "I" in the messages when speaking for Yahweh.

Contemporary English Version
Many will come and claim to be me. They will say they are the Messiah, and they will fool many people.

Douay-Rheims Bible
For many will come in my name saying, I am Christ: and they will seduce many.

International Standard Version
because many will come in my name and say, 'I'm the Messiah,' and they will deceive many people.

Weymouth New Testament
"for many will come assuming my name and saying 'I am the Christ;' and they will mislead many.

my version:
Matt 24:5 For many will come in my name saying "I am the Christ" and will deceive many.

The history of what led to today’s situation in the false churches concerning this verse is the evidence to show that the modern application of commas produces a false narrative. Many have not come saying they are Jesus, only a small few who are seen as liars even by those who adhere to the false interpretation of this verse.

I think we have many who come in Yeshua's name - pastors and priests - because of the position they hold in churches - who deceive many. The people in the congregation simply accept what they are told, and that is the deception. When we look in our own neighborhoods, we may not see any "false Christs." I have found (internet search thing) that we have had at least 20 of them in the U.S. in the last 200 years, and I have found 63 worldwide. Whether it is because of the information capabilities or because the occurrences aren't there, it is so interesting that 47 of them have popped up in the last 200 years. I have to think that there have been more and we just don't know about it.

The worlds churches do not know Yahweh, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the gospel or even themselves. This is all a result of those who come in the name of Jesus saying indeed that Jesus was the messiah, but at the same time deceive many. This is the fulfillment of Revelation 12:9

And I find it sad that people have believed what they were told without question - and that questions are not tolerated by those who claim to teach. A person must want to know and be willing to spend the time with scripture and in prayer. The best way to do that - in my opinion - is to spend this time in community with others who also want to know. A community of people like that seems very rare.
