If you would search the scriptures to find something that resembles our idea of marriage you will not fine it. Today you must have a
license, someone who by law can perform the wedding and witnesses to the wedding. In scripture only a witness was required and that was the mother of the bride who would place a white cloth under her daughter to catch the blood flow from the loss of her virginity. There were no ministers, priests or ships captains, no license from the government. The only parties involved in a marriage were the man, the woman and God Almighty . This has never changed. However men, true to their natures, profane what God Himself instituted. Today they even say, what God has joined together let not man put asunder. This is yet another example of men putting themselves into matters that are Gods alone. They set themselves up as your teacher when this is the role of the Holy Spirit, they set themselves up as your man of God when Jesus is and become an extra mediator when Jesus is the only mediator. Today people think it is the ceremony that marries when it is the mutual love between man, woman and God. Today a true Godly marriage would not even be recognized by the state or by the people. If we are to have a separation of church and state then why is the state involved at all.

The one who breaks the covenant under the law was put to death but man’s laws make judgments as to who gets what and who pays what. It is like a reward for sin rather than a punishment. Dead people have no possessions. There is a huge difference between adultery and divorce but in each one only God makes the rules. Today adultery and divorce are rampant causing pain an anguish to the man, woman,children ,parents and friends. Perhaps a return to Gods way is in order but I do not think that will happen.
