There were comments by Nathanael, Anna , Simeon and the Shepherds, possibly others, indicate that there were people existing at the birth of Jesus that had knowledge about who Jesus was. There people were the elect of the old covenant. The only way they knew the things about Jesus was by divine revelation. This is how anyone knows spiritual truth. Matthew 25:52 is also proof of elect saints before Jesus.
