In this section of scripture from verse 1 to 11 is current to Jeremiah's time but from verse 12 to 38 seems to be future. Verse 13, all the words about the nations is a change from only addressing Judah in verses 1 to 11. Verse 12 the after 70 years here is future punishment of all nations on Earth and they drink from the wine cup of God's fury. This is mentioned in Revelation 14:10 Psalm 75:8 Isaiah 51:17 . Notice the first to drink the cup is Jerusalem and the cities of Judah. It should be obvious that God cannot punish a nation if it does not exist. So the 70 years must begin after Judah is a nation again. So from 1948 to 2018 is 70 years for modern Judah (Israel) as a nation. Now verse 12, after 70 years God will cause them and all nation to drink His wrath. This will take place during the tribulation and day of the Lord. Judah and Jerusalem will drink a double portion of God's wrath. Isaiah 40:1-2 Revelation 18:3-6 Yes Jerusalem is the harlot of Babylon and Judah is Babylon. This because of Judah and Jerusalem being polluted by spiritual adultery. Revelation 17:16-18 Ezekiel 16:38-43. Ezekiel 23:17. Revelation 11:8. Today in the news, Israel is trying to become a theocracy. The dream of the orthodox Jews is to restore Israel to the glory days of Solomon to make an image of Solomons glory and to have a king messiah, third temple with sacrifices and convert the world to Judaism.
