Neil gets all preachy again! Lol
Jesus said that there is no greater love, than when you lay down your life for a friend. It means you give up everything about yourself, even your own life for someone else.
In all honesty…the human mind is not big enough to fully grasp the love of God and his son.
I think personally about this, but it has to be at a very quiet time.. I have to focus. The death he suffered… how he could have refused to do it, go through with it all.
Think about a person you love so much… this is a reflection of the love our Creator has! A reflection of his love.
My mother was telling me about a time when she had lost her faith in the religious organization she was in.
She loved Jesus still, and prayed to God that he would not let her go, despite this major transition in her life.
What happend next to her, she descibes as the feeling of being surrounded by ultimate love… even more love than she could feel towards her child! ( me!)
Now, .. I have no personal experience of this kind, but I believe what she says. Jesus love is superior.. absolutely.
Romans 8:39 “…nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Basically nothing can separate us from his love.
This verse continues to list everything, …every realm, and every category which anyone might imagine could stop Jesus and God’s commitment or ability to love.
Nothing can.
Hardships might test, but Paul's explanation has included everything from our experiences, to powerful forces, and even the natural and supernatural worlds. He has listed the present and future. He has listed powers, meaning perhaps hostile authorities.
Also, he lists height and depth, meaning anything that might come down from above or if we go 6 feet under. Finally, he throws in an all-inclusive mention of anything else in all creation.
Paul is being an absolutist about this.
Those who are saved, through faith in Christ, are saved.
Period.
We are loved by God always. No matter what. Forever.
Awesome!
