So in my journey of study while being out of the borg, I have enjoyed Jesus' parables very much. Recently I've been deep-diving Mt 13 and the Kingdom of Heaven parables. My whole life I had been instructed that the pearl of great value or the treasure in the field was the Kingdom and it was our sacrificing and our effort to attain it.
BUT recently I was exposed to another way of looking at it. First of all I want to say that these two parables (treasure in a field and a pearl of great value) were told to the disciples privately AFTER explaining the wheat and the tares. Interesting, right?
So this new perception I was exposed to is that we followers of Christ are the treasure and are the pearl! Blew my mind. And if you think about it Jesus gave up everything for us when he gave up his life. He bought us. We belong to him and one day he will give us back to our Father and we will have unity and all the things Adam and Eve forfitted before we were even here.
I love this thought. I love knowing I have worth. After all I have been through to be in the "pearl class" or "treasure class" (sorry a little tongue and cheek at wt's expense) has really made me feel closer to our Heavenly Father and to Jesus. And it removes works-based salvation AND simultaneously it motivates me to continue paying that love forward. I am compelled to love like Jesus, to the point of death, because I follow my King wherever he goes!
