In some churches they practice foot washing. Usually this is done at Passover or what is erroneously called Easter. Their leaders see what Jesus did, washing the disciples feet and they ruled that all their members do the same. This is usually a once a year practice or ritual. A ritual is defined as; a ceremonial act repeated at predetermined times . So, a ritual is something done at specified times over and over again. Sort of like being stuck in a time loop. We should ask why did Jesus wash feet ? Some say it shows self humiliation or to make you feel ashamed or humiliated. Others say to humble you. John 13:10 the cleaning was more than removal of dirt, it was a cleaning spirituality, notice Jesus saying, not all of you are clean, referring to Judas Iscariot the betrayer. Verse 15 reveals the true reason why Jesus did what he did. It was only an example of being a servant. Jesus told them that he was their Lord but yet was their servant, Matthew 23:11 , Jesus was greater then they but yet served them. Matthew 20:25-28 This is the only reason for the foot washing, not those others that churches claim. Serving is immersed in the second of the greatest commandments given by Jesus, love your neighbor as yourself. What Worldly churches do is vain repetition in everything they do. This is proof of no guidance by the Holy Spirit. God is worshipped in spirit and truth and seeks that kind of worship . Rituals and traditions, times and places are not spirit but works of carnal men. Ancient Israel operated this way and so do all the churches of this world. This is only one reason why Jesus, at his return will say to them, depart from me I never knew you. True Christians do not keep times, seasons, days or years by practicing rituals or traditions based entirely upon physical things. Gods Spirit to your human spirit is true worship the Father wants.
