Just a thought....
You received a $100 traffic ticket.
Now you go to the judge and say, " look at all the good things I've done in obeying traffic laws over many years! Surely that covers the ticket cost!"
The judge says, " sorry, you broke the law, now you have to pay for your actions. Your past obedience to the law is good but you broke the law, now there's a penalty."
This is an example of how doing good works will not earn us salvation. Reliance on Jesus, who paid the price of our breaking God's law is how it is paid.
1 Peter 2:24 shows how Jesus died for our personal sins.
The good works follow out of appreciation. So then," Faith without works is dead"! James 2:14
It's not a salvation verse, it's a fact!
Wooohoooo!
