The Old Testament is replete with accounts of demons/gods, their worship, and petitions for their power such as witchcraft, sorcery, necromancy, horoscopes, etc. In the present day, people worry more about false doctrine, and rightly so. But Derek Prince points out that such practices have not disappeared, and in fact have proliferated more in the present, particularly in Christendom. While some details may be debatable, contact with rival deities still persist and may be responsible for some world events. This rouses suspicion, that such practices may in time become more common and even more conspicuous, and would play a greater role. Derek Prince points out that this is the kind of sin that has a generational curse attached to it, not to mention the death penalty in the Old Testament.
