I really enjoy reading N.T. Wright and keep hoping he will use his exegetical skills to overcome his cognitive dissonance about the trinity. I just read this in his "Surprised by Hope" book which shows the sleep of the dead and a future resurrection to a new body in the new world (New Heaven on New Earth) is the correct understanding of not going to heaven when we die. He mentions that citizenship in heaven doesn't mean living there. Just as Roman citizens were in Roman colonies not in the mother city. So he says the cognitive dissonance was for those clinging to belief in going to heaven upon death. I see the same thing with Trinitarians.
