NET Bible
For by the standard you judge you will be judged, and the
measure you use will be the measure you receive. Matthew 7:2
The Christian commitment to the highest standard of care when
judging sin.
Summary: The questions we ask and the answers we give betray how
we think. Unidimensional or ill formulated questions inevitably lead to
low-resolution or ill-informed answers. Modern life is extremely complex
and the complexity keeps changing, the challenge for 21st Century Christians is to postulate Hi-resolution questions that take into
consideration the full gamut of scripture whilst informing our scriptural
understanding with modern contextual data points without
compromising or watering down truth or righteousness.
Humility is of utmost importance especially when examining the lives of
others.
Micah 6:8 And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to
love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
Proverbs 11:2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with
humility comes wisdom.
Philippians 2:3,4 instead of being motivated by selfish ambition or
vanity, each of you should, in humility, be moved to treat one another as
more important than yourself. Each of you should be concerned not
only about your own interests but about the interests of others as well.
