When the Revised English Version (REV) was first published (by Spirit and Truth Fellowship, aka STF) it was the first ever translation in history (as far as I know) that removed the known text of Matthew 28.19 and replaced it with the so-called ”short reading”, I.e., baptize in the name of Jesus only.

Their reasons were twofold:
1. The so-called “long form” is a trinitarian corruption.
2. STF is a hyper-dispensationalist group who believes water baptism (part of the old dispensation) has been replaced by spirit baptism only.

And even though they recently replaced the “long form” of Mat 28:19, you can still read the following in their online REV Commentary:
“If baptism became a requirement for salvation during the ministry of John or Jesus, the Bible should tell us that, and it never does.”

“There is no reason to baptize in water today. Nevertheless, the practice continues, and sadly some even teach that it is necessary for salvation.”
