In a similar manner as with the post, “Cult”, I would like to address the phrase, High Control Groups. What matters is who is in control. Do you understand that the early church was an extreme high control group. Consider these scriptures; 1 Corinthians 5:1-13 , 2 Corinthians 2:1-8 , 2 Thessalonians 3:6-15 , 1 Timothy 5:19-20 , Titus 3:9-11 . In these scriptures you read of casting people out of the church, shunning believers, and stern warnings from Paul about those who would cause problems. This is high control but with Godly reason and purpose. These apostles had authority given to them and they were not bashful in its administration. When you consider that your everlasting destiny is at stake would you not want a truly God inspired person to correct, rebuke and punish you if you went astray and put your salvation in danger. This was done out of love and concern. God and Christ used these men to shepherd their sheep. If God loves you He will not hesitate to rebuke, correct or punish you by using His chosen Apostles. We can be thankful, should be thankful, for this method of high control and not despise the correction. Today, there are no Apostles, God has removed men from tending His flock and has taken charge personally by His appointment of His son as our high priest. God will go to the uttermost to save us but we must submit to His will, be obedient and thankful. So then, when you hear about high control, pray that it is God and Christ who are in control.
