SUNDAY – Evidence of Resurrection

If Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless and powerless [mere delusion]; you are still in your sins [and under the control and penalty of sin].

1 Corinthians 15:17, Amplified Bible

Action: Jesus predicted that He would die by crucifixion and rise on the third day. He could not control these things. Consider three “ " lines of evidence verifying his resurrection:

Testimony. The four independent biographies of Jesus were all written by eyewitnesses or based on eyewitness testimony, while many other eyewitnesses were still alive. The 11 recorded post-resurrection appearances were inside and outside, in different locations, and at different times of the day. He was physically touched, audibly heard, visually seen, and he ate food in the presence of witnesses - all of whom knew him before his death, so they knew he was the same Jesus who died on the cross.

Tomb. The grave had been guarded by Roman soldiers yet the stone had been rolled away; and no one ever claimed to have stolen the body. All the Jewish authorities needed to do to put an end to Christianity was to produce the body of Jesus; it was never found. The grave clothes were neatly left behind. Anyone removing the body for profit or mischief would have taken the wrapped body away and separated out the valuable spice mixture at their leisure.

Transformation. While Jesus was on trial, the Apostles deserted Him in fear, yet three days after fleeing the crucifixion in fear, the disciples were suddenly willing to die a martyr's death. What accounts for their transformation into men willing to die for their message? They had nothing to gain from concocting such a story.
